William Shakespeare
William Shakespeare (1564-1616) is among the most well known writers in English. He has written 37 plays. Romeo and Juliet, Macbeth, Hamlet and King Lear are some of his famous plays. His sonnets, 154 in number, deal with the theme of love and friendship.

Ravindranath Tagore
Ravindranath Tagore born in 1861. He is a poet philosopher and teacher. He wrote poetry, drama and fiction in the Bengali language and was also a celebrated artist and musician. He won the Nobel Prize for literature in 1913 after the publication of 'Gitanjali' in English a volume of spiritual poetry. In 1919 he established at santiniketan a university for promoting cultural co-operation between the East and West and named it Vishwa-Bharathi.
P Lankesh
P Lankesh was born in 1935 . He was a well known poet in modern Kannada literature. He was a great short-story writer, novelist, playwright and journalist. English at the Central College of Bangalore University. He was a cultural leader and his ideas had their origins in the pluralistic traditions of kannada culture.Political and social concerns were an integral part of his cuttural thoughts. For him literature was hot an expression of one's experience alone but a powerful tool of social transformation.

Petrus Borvka
Petrus Borvka bron in 1905. The work of this well known Byelorussian poet provides a fine example of the folk sing trend in Soviet poetry. His lyricism is rooted in his native Byelorussia and comveys the inimitable coloust of its woods and fields, the clear sparkle of its rivers and the bustle of its cities. Petrus Brovka loves folk thems, simple language and sng-like rhythms. it is not surprising that music has been written to many of his verses. His volume of poetry and Time Goes On won him the Lenin Prize in 1962. pPetrus Brovka is also well known as a translator of Russian and Ukraininan poetry into Byelorusian.
Sulamith Ish Kishor
Born in 1896 in London Sulamith Ish Kishor moved to New York and graduated from Hunter College with specialization in history and language. S I Kishor began her writing career at the age of five and had published some of her poems in British periodicals. She achieved cinsiderable stature as an author during her lifetime and died on June 23,1977 , in New York City. Her literary efforts include fiction and nonfiction for children, young abults and adults. Her best-known work of fiction is Our Eddie, which was a Newbery Honor Book in 1970.
